WaynaPicchu A view of MachuPicchu from a neighboring mountain peak, WahnaPicchu. Clouds were swirling all around the surrounding area and I could only see brief and partial glimpses of the ruins below. So I made myself comfortable and sat poised and ready for an hour or so, waiting for a few second break of clear air to make a good exposure.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |

Ancient City This is the main center area of MachuPicchu. The "D" shaped structure near center is the Temple of the Sun. For some reason it was worthy of a complex curved wall, unlike all other surrounding structures.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |

MachuPicchu High in the Urubamba Mountains, lies the recently famous ruins of MachuPicchu. The peak off to the right is WaynaPicchu. After a lengthy steep climb up damp and slippery rocks, it provides a nice overlook of the ancient city. Many photographers stand on the hill on the left side of this photo and capture a portion of the ruins; I chose to climb to a neighboring peak and shoot down over the entire area. The stepped plateaus going down the side were farmland and between each level are stone steps protruding out from the wall.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |

Fingerprint One of my greatest childhood possessions was a little 50¢ magnifying glass. I was about six when I received the gift and now had a whole new world to discover under magnification. I spent months looking at everything imaginable and seemed to have never grown out of the fascination. This is a close-up of my finger; the light dots are the sweat glands within the ridges of the fingerprint.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |

Sailing by Chicago Rarely do I take the time to capture man-made objects, in fact, I usually go out of my way to avoid them, but this particular shot I couldn't resist reproducing. I was standing on a beach in Indiana looking across Lake Michigan toward the Chicago skyline when I noticed a sailboat coming into view. The setting sun (just out of frame) created a burnt-orange sky in the horizon which silhouetted the skyscrapers nicely. I was all set up and waited patiently for the sailors to position their boat amongst the skyline 40 miles away.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |

Mmmm M&M test shot. We discovered that the longer it took to get a pleasing arrangement of these, the less of them we had to work with – perhaps eating the out-of-place ones was not the best strategy.Download: 1024x768 Wallpaper |
